Gel candles comprise mainly of mineral oil. It comprises of 90 % mineral oil with 10 % polymer, the latter giving it that gel- like appearance. A gel candle burns for longer than normal wax candle because of the mineral oils.
Candle making is simple, simpler than you would think it to be. You can visit many candle making sites. Hand made personalized candles make an excellent gift for friends and loved ones. It’s very nice to receive or give candles as gifts, but what makes them great is that element of personal touch in their making.
To make gel candles at home, you need some gel wax, scents or fragrance oil of your choice, candle dyes, wick base, wick, non-flammable glass container or a jar and embeds. Having thus procured al the needed items, proceed with the making of candles in these simple steps.
First of all you melt wax in a container. Please note gel wax takes longer to melt than the normal wax. The next step is to add your chosen color and scent soon after it melts. Now, pour the mixed wax in a glass container which has the wick placed in the center on a wick base. Make sure that you pour hot wax into the container, otherwise it leads to the formation of air bubbles. For creating visible bubbles you should cool the wax a bit before pouring it to the container. Once the gel settles well and completely cools, your gel candle is ready to be lit.
